‘Swiss Solar Stories’ on the road

The Swiss Solar Stories citizen science project booth was officially launched with initial events in Sursee and Walenstadt.

At the booth, interested citizens meet researchers from ETH Zurich and can try out the specially developed AI-supported chatbot on site. The aim of the project is to gather personal experiences, hurdles and perspectives on solar installations – directly from the people who operate these installations, or are thinking about them. The chatbot enables low-threshold, dialogue-based participation and is available online around the clock, combining the large sample size of a survey with the better understanding and in-depth questioning of interviews.

The project stand in Sursee offered a first impression of how research and society can enter into dialogue, with a focus on real stories for a sustainable energy future.

This Citizen Science project is supported by NCCR Automation, Citizen Science Zurich (a joint initiative of ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich and the Mercator Foundation Switzerland), and SchweizForscht. A series of local activities is taking place under the rubric Tage der Sonne, organised by the Swiss Solar Energy Society.
